Veep launches book on Ephraim Amu’s legacy

Vice President of Ghana, Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, launched a book titled *Ephraim Amu: Nationalist, Poet, and Theologian (1899 – 1995)*. The event took place at the Osu Eben-Ezer Presbyterian Church Hall in Accra.

Many attended the launch, including diplomats, government officials, traditional leaders, and academics. They celebrated Dr. Ephraim Amu's life and legacy. He was a respected composer, nationalist, educator, and theologian.

In her keynote address, the Vice President called Dr. Amu a cultural icon. She praised his vision for Ghanaian identity and self-reliance. His work has significantly shaped the nation's consciousness.

She noted that the book serves as a guide for future generations. Ghanaians should embrace values like integrity, discipline, and service.

“Dr. Amu was not just a musician—he was a cultural architect,” she said. His song *Yɛn Ara Asase Ni* is more than music; it’s a call to action for all Ghanaians.

Prof. Opoku-Agyemang highlighted Amu’s efforts to integrate African culture into education and faith. She advocated for using indigenous languages and traditions in these areas.

She encouraged Ghanaians to apply his lessons to nation-building. Self-reliance, ethical leadership, and cultural preservation are vital for Ghana's development.

The Vice President commended the Ephraim Amu Foundation for preserving his legacy through research and education. She urged Ghanaian youth to study his life as a model for national progress.

The book details Amu’s contributions to nationalism, music, and theology. Its launch marks a renewed commitment to celebrating his impact on Ghana's history and future.
