Veteran Journalist Nana Kwasi Gyan-Apenteng passes away at 74

Renowned journalist Nana Kwasi Gyan-Apenteng has passed away in London. He died on Monday at the age of 74.

Nana Gyan-Apenteng was a respected figure in Ghana's media landscape. He served as editor and columnist for The Mirror newspaper. He was also the Apagyahene of Tafo Eti in the Eastern Region.

His journalism career began in the late 1980s and early 1990s. He worked as deputy editor of West Africa magazine in London. After that, he returned to Ghana and joined the Third World Network.

At the Third World Network, he headed the communications unit. He also edited their flagship publication, Africa Agenda. Throughout his career, he shaped media practice and policy in Ghana and West Africa.

He was a media trainer and consultant for many organizations. These included MTN Ghana, UN agencies, and the Media Foundation for West Africa. He also worked with STAR-Ghana.

Nana Gyan-Apenteng attended Apam Secondary School and the University of Ghana, Legon. He was known for his intellect, integrity, and commitment to journalism.

He is survived by six children. The family will announce funeral arrangements soon.
