Vice President Naana Opoku-Agyemang is very well and recuperating - Mahama

President John Dramani Mahama updated Ghanaians on Vice President Prof Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang's health. He assured everyone that she is recovering well and in good spirits.

He spoke during the launch of a program distributing sanitary pads to over two million girls. The event took place on Thursday, April 24. The Vice President was absent but sent her warm regards.

“I wish to extend Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang’s greetings to all of you,” he said. “I spoke to her yesterday and told her we would miss her today.”

He added, “She asked me to say hello and that she is resting. She is doing very well and will join us soon.”

Prof Opoku-Agyemang fell ill suddenly on March 28, 2025. She sought medical attention at the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC) the next day.

On March 30, the Office of the President confirmed she received treatment and was stable. Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Minister for Government Communications, noted that experts advised further treatment abroad.

Following this advice, Prof Opoku-Agyemang began a three-week medical leave on April 7, prioritizing her health.
