Vice President Prof. Opoku-Agyemang takes three-week medical break

Vice President Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang has started a three-week medical leave. This leave is effective from April 7, 2025. Her doctors recommended this time off to focus on her recovery.

Sources at Jubilee House have confirmed this news. The Vice President's leave follows recent health issues. She sought treatment abroad after initial care in Accra.

Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa spoke at a community event in Lagos, Nigeria, on April 6, 2025. He reassured the public that Prof. Opoku-Agyemang is making good progress. He stated she will soon return to her official duties.

Ablakwa thanked Ghanaians for their well-wishes and prayers. He believes their support has greatly aided her improvement.

He also addressed rumors about her health. He condemned what he called “unGhanaian propaganda.” Ablakwa urged the public to focus on the Vice President’s resilience and leadership as a role model for women and girls.
