This year, the Office of the Vice President of Ghana hosted a special breakfast for children. The event celebrated Mother's Day with themes of love, family, and national pride. Schoolchildren and guests gathered to honor mothers' vital roles in society.
Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, the Minister for Gender, Children, and Social Protection, delivered the keynote address. She spoke on behalf of Her Excellency Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang. Dr. Lartey emphasized how mothers shape families and the nation.
“Today, we celebrate one of our greatest gifts—mothers,” she said. “They are the heart of our homes and the spirit of our nation.” She highlighted their love and sacrifices that help shape future generations.
The children's session was filled with music, laughter, and shared meals. It also encouraged reflection on appreciating women who nurture future leaders. Participants were urged to recognize all women in their lives—mothers, grandmothers, teachers, and caregivers.
“You may not fully understand their contributions now,” noted Dr. Lartey. “But one day you will see how much they have given you.”
The breakfast session also promoted national development values under the government’s RESET agenda. The Minister encouraged children to become responsible and kind citizens.
“You are important for our country’s future,” she said. “Your role in building a strong Ghana is invaluable.”
The event concluded joyfully with treats and interactive activities for children. It reinforced that even young members of society are valued.
“Happy Mother’s Day,” Dr. Lartey concluded. “You make your families and our country proud every day.”
