President John Dramani Mahama has inaugurated the new Armed Forces Council.
Vice President Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang will chair the council.
The council's role is to guide defense policy and military administration. It will also focus on operational readiness for the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF). This ensures they are equipped to protect national security.
The seven-member council includes:
- Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang – Chairperson
- Edward Kofi Omane Boamah – Member
- Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa – Member
- Mubarak Mohammed Muntaka – Member
- Mr. Daniel Addo – Member
- Mr. Fuseini Iddrisu – Member
- Ms. Nancy Dakwa Ampofo – Member
With the Vice President leading, the council will prioritize military modernization. It aims to improve personnel welfare and enhance national security policies.
The government is committed to strengthening the Ghana Armed Forces through strategic reforms. This will help them address emerging security challenges effectively.
