On June 2, 1985, Victory Bible Church International (VBCI) was established. It is now a leading Charismatic and Pentecostal church in Ghana. Its mission is to “Raise the Foundations of Many Generations.”
VBCI held its first service on June 2, 1985, in Kokomlemle, Accra. The church has since expanded to over ten countries across four continents: Africa, Asia, the Americas, and Europe.
In Ghana alone, VBCI has more than 175 branches. Its administrative office employs over 50 permanent staff and hundreds of non-permanent staff members.
Globally, VBCI has 30 consecrated bishops overseeing its 39 provinces. In total, there are 250 local branches known as sanctuaries.
The church's mission is based on Isaiah 58:12. This verse emphasizes building up communities and restoring paths for future generations.
Anniversary Launch
On January 26, 2025, VBCI launched its 40th anniversary celebration at Dominion Sanctuary in Accra. They unveiled an anniversary logo during the event.
Bishop Tackie-Yarboi spoke to journalists after the ceremony. He highlighted that VBCI has thrived by focusing on both spiritual and physical needs.
He described the church as both an organization and an organism. The organism addresses spiritual matters while the organization meets material needs.
Bishop Tackie-Yarboi noted that churches often struggle when they neglect organizational aspects. He emphasized teaching members how to thrive on earth alongside their spiritual journey.
Celebration Activities
A series of events will celebrate the church's 40th anniversary. These include a conference with international speakers and outdoor crusades for street evangelism.
There will also be a musical concert featuring gospel artists from VBCI and other ministries. Community outreach programs and charity events are planned as well.
Additional activities include a health walk and health screenings for community members. Commemorative projects will be initiated in specific communities with branch churches.
Youth-centric events will provide platforms for young people to grow in leadership skills. These events aim to address challenges faced by youth while recognizing their contributions.
The celebrations will culminate in October 2025 with the “Wonderful Jesus Conference,” a week-long international gathering.
