A video has emerged featuring Yaw Asante Agyekum's daughter. She was only a month old when her father was arrested.
Yaw Asante Agyekum was wrongfully jailed for being an accomplice to robber Atta Ayi. He served over 20 years of a 35-year sentence. On June 5, 2025, the court acquitted him.
After his release, he met his daughter, who is now 23 years old. She expressed joy at the court's decision to free her father.
Agyekum stated, "I knew I was innocent. I always prayed to be out." He worked as a motor repairer and fixed Ataa Ayi’s motorbike without knowing he was a robber.
Atta Ayi, also known as Raymond Aryee Aryeetey, terrorized Ghanaians in the early 2000s. He committed numerous crimes including carjacking and house raids.
In February 2005, police arrested him during a sting operation. He received sentences of 70 years and 20 years for separate armed robbery cases.
Now reunited with his daughter after many years apart, Yaw Asante Agyekum feels relief and happiness. The video captures their emotional reunion following his exoneration.
