Video – Traders at Kasoa shockingly build a shed over a traffic light

A video has gone viral on social media. It shows traders in Kasoa building a shed over a traffic light. This act has sparked widespread outrage.

In the video, a person can be heard commenting, “This can only happen in Kasoa. They have covered the traffic light. Are they even thinking?”

The video emerged during the Accra Mayor's decongestion exercise. This initiative began on May 20, 2025. The AMA task forces and police are removing unauthorized stalls and vendors from key areas.

Many Ghanaians reacted strongly to the video. One user said, “If you pick up a passenger here, a policeman will arrest you.” Another noted that there is a police station nearby but questioned their presence.

Another commenter expressed frustration about the blatant disregard for public property. They stated that even if the traffic light isn’t functional, it’s wrong to block it with structures.

One more netizen pointed out that police only intervene when trotro drivers pick up passengers at that spot. Another user claimed to see many police officers under the bridge but accused them of extorting money from drivers instead of enforcing order.

The situation highlights concerns about accountability and orderliness among some citizens in Ghana.
