Rockson Nelson Dafeamekpor, the Majority Chief Whip and MP for South Dayi, has made an appeal to Bawku's youth. He urged them to end the ongoing conflict in their area.
Speaking on TV3's The KeyPoints, he stressed the importance of peace. He warned that continued violence would hinder development.
Dafeamekpor said, “My prayer to the young people of Bawku is that even in law, a time comes that litigation ends.” He called for dialogue, unity, and coexistence among the community.
He expressed concern about persistent insecurity in Bawku. This insecurity has damaged basic infrastructure and halted essential services.
“We should aspire to peaceful coexistence and progress,” he stated. Conflict prevents road repairs and electricity connections. Traders fear attacks and teachers cannot be transferred there.
His comments follow recent efforts by state authorities to engage Bawku communities. The Inspector-General of Police promised special development initiatives aimed at restoring peace.
While these efforts are ongoing, Dafeamekpor’s message focuses on grassroots involvement. He directly appealed to the youth to choose peace over conflict.
Bawku has faced recurring ethnic violence for years. This violence has displaced residents and disrupted livelihoods while stalling development.
