Volta Council of State rep urges unanimous confirmation of Mahama’s MMDCE nominees

Gabriel Tanko Kwamigah-Atokple, a member of the Council of State, has made an appeal. He urged Assembly members in Volta to quickly confirm President John Dramani Mahama’s new Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs).

Mr. Tanko emphasized the urgency of local governance. He noted that delays in confirmation would stall important interventions. These interventions are needed to stabilize the economy and promote development.

Ghana is facing serious economic challenges. Mr. Tanko stressed that effective leadership is essential at all levels. This will help implement policies effectively.

He congratulated the nominees for their competence and experience. He reminded them that their roles come with responsibilities. They must serve with integrity and dedication to improve lives in Volta Region.

Mr. Tanko acknowledged those not selected for positions. He reassured them that their contributions are still valuable to national development.

He stated, "Ghana’s transformation under President Mahama is a journey, not a race." He called for unity among party members and stakeholders.

He warned against internal divisions during the confirmation process. Opposition campaigns could weaken the president’s authority and hinder progress in the region.

Instead, he urged support for both the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and President Mahama's administration.

“For Ghana’s economy, I implore all Assembly members to give MMDCEs a one-touch victory,” Mr. Tanko said.

He highlighted that economic challenges require immediate action. Delays in approving nominees will slow down government responses.

Mr. Tanko encouraged Assembly members to prioritize patriotism over personal interests. They should endorse the nominees without hesitation.

“This is not the time for hesitation or discord,” he added. The focus should be on supporting President Mahama and ensuring strong leadership throughout Ghana.
