The Volta Regional Minister, James Gunu, emphasized strategic thinking over brute strength. He used the behavior of monkeys at the Tafi Atome Monkey Sanctuary as a lesson for leadership.
Gunu made this observation during a tour of the sanctuary. This visit was part of a trip to Tafi and Amedzofe. The Association of Ghana Industries (AGI) organized the trip in connection with the Volta Trade and Investment Fair.
A tour guide explained how Mona monkeys live in family units. Each family occupies its own territory without crossing into others'. Only the largest family group ventures into other areas to fight for food.
Intrigued by their behavior, Gunu remarked, "Tafi Atome monkeys play by intelligence and not only by size." His comment resonated with visitors, drawing laughter from government officials, AGI members, and tourists.
Gunu highlighted the importance of strategy and cooperation in politics and economic development. He stated that what they witnessed was more than animal behavior. It serves as a metaphor for how societies thrive through intelligence rather than bullying.
He praised the Tafi Atome community for preserving their sacred forest. They have developed it into a top eco-tourism destination in Ghana. Gunu noted that communities can preserve culture while creating jobs and opportunities.
The Tafi-Amedzofe trip aims to promote tourism and investment in the region. It showcases the hidden treasures and economic potential of the Volta Region during the Volta Fair.
