Voltic strengthens community water supply with borehole and groundwater harvesting system

Voltic (GH) Limited is helping the farming community of Medie Akutuase. They are installing a borehole and groundwater harvesting system.

The project was announced at a ceremony. Local dignitaries attended, including Chief Nii Jaasetse of Medie. Representatives from Voltic were also present.

Voltic is part of the Coca-Cola Beverages Africa (CCBA) group. They installed the groundwater harvesting system to provide clean water daily.

This system gives residents easy access to safe drinking water at no cost.

“Water is essential to life and our beverages,” said Flora Jika, Voltic's general manager.

“We promote water stewardship to improve efficiency and return safe water.”

“Together with partners, we invest in initiatives that benefit communities,” she added.

"These projects aim to build resilience and improve local water security," Jika concluded.

These efforts align with The Coca-Cola Company's broader goals in Africa.

In September 2024, The Coca-Cola Company announced a $25 million investment. This funding will address critical water challenges in 20 African countries.

The Global Water Challenge (GWC) will lead this work. A consortium will include The Nature Conservancy (TNC), IUCN, and WWF.

This initiative starts in 2024 and runs through 2030. It emphasizes the importance of enhancing water stewardship.
