The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has defended the delay in releasing the 2024 WASSCE results, attributing it to ongoing investigations into examination malpractice.
WAEC’s Head of Public Relations, John Kapi, emphasized that the council is prioritizing fairness and ensuring that only deserving candidates receive their grades.
His response follows a one-week ultimatum from the National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS), which has threatened nationwide protests if the withheld results are not released.
NUGS has also demanded the removal of WAEC Ghana’s Head, alleging bias in handling malpractice cases.
Despite WAEC’s assurances, concerns persist among students and stakeholders, who argue that the delay is causing unnecessary anxiety. NUGS insists it will take action if WAEC fails to meet the deadline.
