The West African Gas Pipeline Company (WAPCo) is urging Ghana and its neighbors to work together. They want to address ongoing payment issues. These challenges are causing a gas supply deficit in the region.
WAPCo emphasizes that resolving these financial problems is essential. It will help ensure a reliable gas supply for power generation and industry across West Africa.
At the West African Gas Pipeline Committee of Ministers meeting in Accra, WAPCo Managing Director Michelle Burkett spoke about this issue. She highlighted the need for coordinated action to stabilize gas flow. This is crucial for energy security in the sub-region.
Burkett noted improvements in gas deliveries from Nigeria. However, she pointed out that gaps still exist in meeting regional demand.
She called for collaborative efforts to secure a consistent gas supply and improve financial stability.
