Walewale: 2 jailed five years each for stealing Immigration officer’s firearms

Two individuals stole a pistol and ammunition from an immigration officer in Walewale. They have been sentenced to five years in prison with hard labor.

The convicts are Mustapha Basit, 18, and Baba Rashid, 22. They pleaded guilty to conspiracy to steal and stealing. Justice Francis Asobayeri presided over their case at the Walewale Circuit Court on May 22.

According to police, preparations are underway for their transfer to prison.

The theft occurred on May 17 at noon. The convicts broke into the immigration officer’s room while he was away.

They stole a Smith & Wesson pistol loaded with ten rounds of ammunition. They also took two CZ rifle magazines, each containing 30 rounds.
