Alexander Afenyo Markin, the Minority Leader in Parliament, has criticized the cameraman. He claims the cameraman is politicizing his work.
Afenyo Markin accused the cameraman of focusing only on his shoes. He noted that full body shots are shown for Majority members when they speak.
He expressed concern about footage showing him removing his shoes due to pain. He called this behavior inappropriate.
Afenyo Markin urged the Speaker of Parliament to address this issue. He warned that such actions could negatively affect others in the future.
On the floor of Parliament, he stated, “Mr Speaker, if a cameraman deliberately films me taking my leg out of my shoe to play politics, we will not take kindly to it.”
He explained that he removed his leg from his shoe because he was in pain. The cameraman zoomed in at that moment.
He questioned why only his legs were focused on during debates. Meanwhile, full body shots are given to Majority members.
“If the cameraman is engaging in partisan politics, then he must be cautioned,” he said.
He added, “Mr Speaker, I will speak on these issues because today it may be me but tomorrow it may be you.”
“It is not right that when I’m debating, you zoom in on my feet,” he continued.
“They must do their work professionally,” Afenyo Markin insisted. “Nobody should take it personally.”
He warned that if support continues for such actions, one day it could happen to anyone else too.
