Water crisis: Klefe Demete residents forced to use unsafe stream - Channel1 News

Residents of Klefe Demete in the Ho Municipality are facing severe water shortages. They are connected to Ghana Water Limited, but taps are dry. A broken borehole forces many to fetch water from a nearby stream. This situation raises serious health concerns.

The Taviefe Health Post is also affected. It serves over 4,000 people but lacks clean water for medical procedures. Frustrated residents and health workers have called for help from authorities.

Prince Kumah, a resident, explained the issue. "Due to problems at the Kpeve Water processing plant, we lack water frequently," he said. He added that their borehole has not worked for a long time.

Victoria Wogblase shared her concerns about health issues. "Many of us have developed eye problems from using unhygienic water," she said. She mentioned that they rely on the stream and community water, which sometimes gets shut down.

Eunice Kumasi, a public health nurse at Taviefe Health Post, described their challenges. "We often have clients but no water for handwashing," she said. "The challenge is huge, but we are trying our best."
