Water is a sacred trust – Minister charges Ghana Water Board

The Minister for Works, Housing and Water Resources, Hon. Kenneth Gilbert Adjei, addressed the new Board of Directors of Ghana Water Limited (GWL). He urged them to focus on transparency, integrity, and discipline in managing urban water systems.

During the swearing-in ceremony in Accra, Mr. Adjei highlighted that their role goes beyond recognizing past achievements. He stated it is a clear directive to create an accountable future.

“Your appointment is not just ceremonial,” he said. “It is a strategic directive for future performance.”

He encouraged the board to lead with vision and work together. They must remain committed to serving the public interest.

“You must lead with vision, act with integrity, manage with discipline, and govern with transparency,” he emphasized.

Mr. Adjei pointed out that access to water is crucial for national development. Their work affects both infrastructure and people's lives.

“Let there be alignment in vision,” he said. “Let there be collaboration in execution.”

He stressed the importance of a shared commitment to service. Water should be seen as a human right and sacred trust.

The new board will drive policies to improve water delivery. They will strengthen accountability and promote water as a basic necessity across Ghana’s urban areas.
