We'll advise ourselves if gov't continues to intimidate our members with security operatives - Nhyiaeso MP

Dr. Stephen Amoah, MP for Nhyiaeso, has expressed concerns about the NPP. He says the party may need to take action against what they see as witch-hunting.

This statement follows an incident involving National Security and police. They attempted to raid the home of Ashanti Regional NPP Chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako.

Dr. Amoah, a former Deputy Minister for Trade and Industry, explained that police had scheduled a meeting with the Chairman. "He agreed to come to Accra," he told JoyNews at the Chairman's residence.

However, Dr. Amoah questioned the legitimacy of the security operatives present. "We don't even know if they are truly National Security," he said.

On Friday morning, a joint team of police and National Security surrounded Chairman Wontumi's home. They claimed to have a search warrant for their actions.

Dr. Amoah criticized their approach, stating that no significant actions have occurred in five months. "They are only going around arresting people," he noted.

He also condemned their tactics, saying even military rule wouldn't allow such behavior. "Power is transient; we can't be controlled by fear," he added.

The MP warned that if intimidation continues, the NPP will find ways to protect its members. "We support leadership but will defend ourselves if necessary," Dr. Amoah stated.

Eventually, an agreement was reached between National Security and the NPP Chairman's legal team. The forceful entry was halted, and the Chairman is set to appear at National Security Headquarters on Monday.
