Justin Kodua Frimpong, the General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), announced a blanket amnesty. This amnesty is for all suspended members to promote reconciliation.
However, he clarified that those who resigned will not benefit automatically.
During the party's national “Thank You” tour in Konongo, Ashanti Region, he explained that former members must apply for readmission.
“If you left on your own, we cannot just bring you back,” he said. He added that those wishing to return must write officially to express their desire.
Mr. Kodua Frimpong emphasized the party’s commitment to unity. He stated that leadership prioritizes this unity and is extending an olive branch to suspended members willing to rejoin.
He noted that while the NPP welcomes back former members, readmission requires a formal expression of remorse and a review by the party.
“We cannot give general amnesty to everybody,” he reiterated.
“But we are ready to accept those who show genuine contrition and wish to come back home.”
