We'll institute robust mechanisms to ensure transparency in use of public funds - Mahama

President John Mahama has reaffirmed his government's commitment to using public funds wisely. He emphasized the need for strong monitoring and evaluation systems.

At the swearing-in ceremony for the Administrator of the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF), he stressed efficient use of development funds. These funds should serve the best interests of the people.

"My government is dedicated to effective and transparent fund allocation," he stated on March 25. He aims to ensure taxpayers’ money is used efficiently for citizens' benefit.

"Our goal is to account for every cedi spent on improving lives," he added.

He also highlighted the importance of working with parliament, civil society, and local stakeholders. This collaboration will enhance oversight and eliminate inefficiencies in fund management.

President Mahama assured that his government would work closely with all relevant bodies. They aim to ensure funds are used properly and provide real benefits to communities.

"We will not tolerate waste or mismanagement," he said. "Our focus is on results that improve Ghanaians' lives and support sustainable development."

The initiative seeks to direct development funds into projects that positively impact citizens' lives.

On March 21, Parliament approved Michael Harry Yamson as DACF administrator. His appointment followed a unanimous recommendation from the Appointments Committee, citing his competence and expertise in managing this role.
