We're focused on alleged drug trafficking scandal, not Adwoa Safo - NPP

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) is focusing on a drug trafficking scandal. This is more urgent than internal party issues involving former MP Adwoa Safo.

On Sunday evening, NPP General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong spoke about this decision. He announced the postponement of a meeting planned for Monday, April 7. The seriousness of the drug allegations prompted this change.

Mr. Kodua stated that the scandal is a national issue needing immediate attention. The party will not discuss Adwoa Safo's situation during this critical time.

“There will be no discussion about whether Honourable Adwoa Safo will appear before any committee,” he said. “Our focus is on the ongoing drug trafficking issue in our country.”

He emphasized that Ghanaians deserve answers from the government. The party expects transparency and accountability regarding these allegations.

Mr. Kodua expressed disappointment in how the government has handled the situation. He noted inconsistencies in the official narrative, which have harmed Ghana’s international image.

“Our party members are worried about this government's behavior,” he said. “We have many questions that need answers.”

He criticized the government's silence on the matter as unacceptable. There has been no communication from security agencies despite serious allegations.

“This lack of response is worrying and embarrassing for our country,” he lamented. “It’s shocking that we haven’t heard anything official while this issue gains international attention.”

His comments came as Adwoa Safo arrived at NPP headquarters with supporters to attend a disciplinary committee meeting. She was disappointed that she was not officially notified about her postponed appearance before them.
