We've shown total commitment towards galamsey fight - Edem Agbana

Edem Agbana, the Member of Parliament for Ketu North, has denied claims about the Mahama government's commitment to fighting illegal mining, known as galamsey.

On Channel One Newsroom, he spoke on Friday, April 4. He emphasized that recovering damaged lands and water bodies takes time.

Agbana stated, "Since January 7, 2025, I have closely monitored the government's response." He believes there is total commitment to combating galamsey. He noted that this fight cannot be won quickly but significant progress has been made.

He praised the current government for its responsiveness in addressing the issue. When journalists or stakeholders report illegal activities in forests, security agencies act swiftly.

Agbana mentioned many arrests have been made and highlighted pragmatic measures taken by the government. He also pointed out the importance of the Blue Water Guards and urged public support for their initiative.
