We’ll work to ensure Wontumi’s release – Bawumia

Former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP). He assured party supporters that they will work to secure the release of Bernard Antwi Boasiako, known as Chairman Wontumi.

Dr. Bawumia spoke at the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) office in Accra on May 30. He expressed concern over the GHS50 million bail set by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO). He called it a deliberate obstacle to Wontumi's release.

"I believe this was just set to prevent his release," he said. He emphasized the importance of following legal processes. He urged supporters to remain calm while steps are taken behind the scenes.

"We will follow due process to ensure his release as soon as possible," Dr. Bawumia stated. He asked everyone to stay calm during this time. "We must not take the law into our own hands," he added.

Bawumia and Afenyo-Markin were granted access to Wontumi at NIB Headquarters.
