President John Dramani Mahama has announced plans for a Technical University in Techiman. This initiative aims to expand access to technical and vocational education in the Bono East Region.
During his thank-you tour, President Mahama shared details about the project. The government is working with regional stakeholders to make it happen. He mentioned collaboration with the Bono East Coordinating Council, the Lands Commission, and the Techiman Traditional Council. A site has already been chosen at Forikrom.
This initiative is part of a larger strategy to enhance technical education nationwide. President Mahama also revealed plans for a University of Health and Life Sciences in Kintampo. This new institution will support educational and healthcare needs in the region.
Mahama highlighted the importance of technical education for economic growth. He stated that it is vital for industrial development and job creation. The goal is to bridge the skills gap and create opportunities for local youth.
Local leaders and residents welcomed this announcement enthusiastically. Many see the proposed university as a chance to boost development in Bono East.
