We are committed to creating jobs for the youths - Rashid Pelpuo

The Minister for Employment and Labour Relations, Rashid Pelpuo, reaffirmed the government's commitment to youth unemployment in Ghana.

He spoke on Joy FM's Super Morning Show. Dr. Pelpuo said the government is working hard to create job opportunities for young people. This includes initiatives focused on youth employment.

"The commitment to get jobs for young people is paramount," he stated. "We are working towards achieving that."

One key strategy is supporting young people with skills and entrepreneurial potential. This support comes through the Youth Entrepreneurship Initiative.

"We aim to help those with skills and potential to work independently," he added.

The Minister also discussed plans to improve access to overseas job opportunities. He promised that these programs will be widely available.

"We are working for those who want to work abroad," he said. "We will make it public so everyone can access it."

He emphasized efforts to streamline Ghana’s labor system for local employment. A central part of this effort is the Ghana Labour Information System, which is already operational.

"It collects information about available jobs," he explained. "You can use computers at centers to find jobs that match your skills."

The minister encouraged both public and private organizations to join the Labour Information System.

"We urge all organizations to participate," he said. "This will help young people access jobs and apply effectively."
