Henry Nana Boakye, the National Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has made a strong statement. He said the NPP will not tolerate intimidation from the John Mahama administration.
His comments follow the arrest of Chairman Wontumi by EOCO. This happened after Wontumi visited the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) headquarters in Accra on May 27.
Nana Boakye told the media, “This political harassment is unacceptable. We did not vote for this.” He criticized how someone can be picked up right after an investigation.
He emphasized that they will not allow political intimidation to continue. “You will hear from us in the coming days,” he promised.
Boakye also stated that having public support does not justify harassment. He mentioned that inviting someone for questioning should not lead to their arrest like a common thief.
The NPP wants to cooperate with investigations but opposes political harassment and intimidation.
Meanwhile, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, known as Chairman Wontumi, faces new allegations. He is accused of receiving $12 million from EXIM Bank.
Alex Kwaku Tetteh, president of Citizen Eye Ghana, revealed this information. His comments came after Wontumi’s lawyer announced a writ of summons from EXIM Bank.
This writ follows Wontumi's interrogation by EOCO on May 27. The legal challenges are mounting for him amid these developments.
