We await full reasoning to decide next steps - Assafuah on SC ruling

Vincent Ekow Assafuah, the MP for Old Tafo, spoke about the legal team. They are waiting for the Supreme Court's full reasoning. This will help them decide their next steps regarding Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo's removal.

The Supreme Court recently dismissed an injunction application. The decision was made by a narrow 3–2 majority.

In an interview with JoyNews, Mr. Assafuah said this ruling is not the end. He noted that on May 21, they will receive detailed reasoning behind the ruling. After reviewing it, they can determine their next course of action.

When asked if this ended the legal challenge, he replied, “I don't think it's the end of the road.” He emphasized that they should first get the reasoning.

Mr. Assafuah pointed out that a 3–2 ruling indicates some merit in their arguments. He believes their case had strength and looks forward to assessing the reasoning before deciding what to do next.

The Supreme Court’s majority favored allowing proceedings to continue. Justices Henrietta Mensa Bonsu and Ernest Gaewu dissented, supporting the applicants’ arguments more closely.

The full reasoning for this decision will be published on May 21, 2025.
