Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo has reiterated the need to increase the number of Supreme Court judges.
In a letter to the President, she cited the court’s heavy workload and the necessity to better serve the nation's justice needs.
She explained that the Supreme Court operates three days a week in alternating weeks, handling around 180 cases monthly.
Without more judges, she warned of delays in decision-making and case backlog, noting that justices would face increased workloads without resolving the issue.
