We gave Mahama an advantage by electing our presidential candidate late – Dr Bawumia laments

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the NPP presidential candidate for 2024, expressed concerns about timing. He said the NPP chose its candidate too late. The party elected him in November, while John Mahama had already campaigned across the country.

Bawumia noted that this gave Mahama an advantage. He mentioned that the NPP spent three years on internal elections, which divided the party. This left little time for reconciliation before starting the campaign.

He emphasized the need to act quickly due to Mahama's head start. Bawumia stated that they are now planning to elect their 2028 candidate by January. This would allow three years for preparation and reconciliation within the party.

In related news, Dr. Arthur Kennedy claimed former President Akufo-Addo has withdrawn support for Bawumia. Kennedy stated that Akufo-Addo is no longer backing Bawumia’s potential 2028 run. He insisted his information was accurate but preferred to let Akufo-Addo speak for himself.

During a TV3 interview, Kennedy confirmed his claims when asked directly about Akufo-Addo's support. He said he could not provide further details but would let events unfold regarding this matter.
