We haven’t been served injunction notice, strike stands – GRNMA

The Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA) has not received any injunction notice. This includes notices from the court or the National Labour Commission (NLC). The NLC secured an injunction against the GRNMA's strike, declaring it illegal. The High Court’s Industrial and Labour Division granted this injunction on June 5, 2025.

The GRNMA started the strike to protest delays in their 2024 Collective Agreement. This agreement includes unpaid allowances and delayed postings. The strike has caused significant disruptions in healthcare across the country.

Despite the court order, GRNMA will continue its strike until they receive official notice. They emphasize their motto: “Aluta continua” (the struggle continues).

In an interview with Citi News on June 6, Joseph Krampah spoke for the GRNMA. He stated that while they respect the law, they cannot act on documents not served to them. He questioned what constitutes an illegal strike.

Krampah noted that they informed the NLC about their intended strike. He said, “If you are declaring it as illegal and bringing an injunction, that is your job.” He added that they have not received any letter regarding this matter. Until then, he reiterated: “Aluta continua.”
