We held consultations across three regions before GoldBod bill – Sammy Gyamfi

Sammy Gyamfi has responded to claims about the GoldBod Bill.

He argues that the bill was not rushed through Parliament.

Gyamfi says the process was thorough and involved many stakeholders.

He noted extensive consultations and parliamentary scrutiny throughout the process.

“It became clear that a broad consultative approach was necessary,” he stated.

Gyamfi mentioned three regional programs held in Akyem Tafo, Kumasi, and Tarkwa.

These meetings included chiefs, miners, and traders discussing the draft legislation.

Participants could review the bill and share their input.

This ensured key industry concerns were taken into account.

He defended the parliamentary process as rigorous.

“At the first meeting of the Joint Committee, NPP minority requested an adjournment,” he revealed.

This request aimed to allow more time for studying the bill in detail.

As part of President John Mahama’s efforts, Gyamfi reaffirmed government commitment to transparency.

He emphasized inclusivity in establishing GoldBod under the Finance Minister’s direction.

Gyamfi assured that the legal framework would meet all stakeholders' needs.

He sees GoldBod as vital for Ghana’s economic transformation.
