We’ll be waiting for you to bring Ofori-Atta back - Frank Davies calls OSP’s bluff

Frank Davies is part of the legal team for former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta. He stated that the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) can legally act against his client. This is true despite the defense's previous explanations.

Mr. Ofori-Atta is under investigation for suspected corruption. He wanted to meet with the OSP virtually due to health issues. However, this request was denied.

The OSP then declared him wanted and sought an INTERPOL Red Notice. This notice could lead to his arrest and extradition.

In a media interview on June 2, 2025, Mr. Davies expressed concern about how the OSP is handling this case. He claimed they ignored formal communications from Ofori-Atta’s lawyers.

Davies accused the OSP of bypassing due process and acting unfairly. He questioned how the Special Prosecutor concluded that Mr. Ofori-Atta has cancer without a medical report.

He also mentioned that if the prosecutor claims Mr. Ofori-Atta is fleeing justice, they will wait for him to bring him back.

At a press briefing in Accra on the same day, Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng confirmed a request had been made to INTERPOL for a Red Notice.

He explained that this decision came after Mr. Ofori-Atta repeatedly failed to attend questioning sessions. The OSP views this as obstructive behavior in their ongoing investigations.
