Alexander Afenyo-Markin, soon-to-be Minority Leader of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has expressed doubts over the ability of the incoming John Mahama administration to fulfill its pledge to run a lean government.
While Mahama has promised to reduce the number of ministers to a maximum of 60, Afenyo-Markin questioned whether this target could be achieved, given the NDC's track record.
Speaking in Parliament on December 16, Afenyo-Markin stated that the NPP would closely monitor how the NDC manages the public purse and funds its social programs.
He highlighted the NPP's skepticism about the NDC's commitment to reducing government size and protecting state finances, especially with plans to reverse taxes imposed by the outgoing administration.
