The General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Justin Frimpong Kodua, spoke about the party's defeat in the 2024 elections. He said this loss was mainly due to rising living costs and poor governance.
Mr. Kodua made these comments on Sunday, April 27, during the party’s Thank You Tour. He stressed that the NPP must face these issues honestly to rebuild trust with the public.
“We lost the 2024 elections because of cost of living issues and poor governance,” he stated. He noted that hardships faced by Ghanaians hurt the party's support base.
He explained that while the NPP had successes, it failed to address key issues affecting daily life. This failure made re-election difficult for them.
Mr. Kodua pointed out that governance problems in some areas led to voter dissatisfaction. “Some areas of governance did not meet our people's expectations,” he said.
He emphasized that the party needs to listen more closely to Ghanaians' concerns. Their needs should be prioritized in future plans.
The General Secretary called on party members to unite and implement recommendations from recent internal reviews.
He reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening the NPP, stating, “We must learn from our mistakes and move forward with unity.”
