President John Dramani Mahama has hinted at relocating the National Cathedral project as part of a comprehensive review.
Speaking at a National Prayer and Thanksgiving Service in Accra, he raised concerns over the demolition of key public facilities and businesses at the original site, calling for a more inclusive and cost-effective approach.
Mahama emphasized the need to address procurement and governance lapses highlighted in a 2024 CHRAJ report, pledging to investigate the project and ensure accountability.
While he left room for continuing the project, he stressed the importance of consensus and collective funding.
“A reconsideration might even include changing the site chosen for the project,” he noted, promising a balanced solution that respects national priorities.
