Northern Regional Minister Ali Adolf John opposes a Kayayei training center in Madina. He believes young girls should stay in their home regions. He argues that they should not migrate to Accra for menial jobs.
“I am strongly against promoting Kayayei in Accra,” he said. “We need our girls at home,” he added during an interview with Maltiti Sadick.
The minister emphasized efforts to create local job opportunities. He wants to prevent young people from moving to urban areas for work.
He recalled an initiative where he helped young men earn income. Some even financed their own education through this support.
“I gathered the boys, and we worked together,” he explained. “Some were able to pay their school fees.” They visited parents without asking for money, as their fees were already covered.
Ali Adolf John believes the focus should be on local opportunities. Keeping youth in their home regions is essential, rather than encouraging migration to Accra.
