“We’re all going to Accra” – NPP Comm. Director charges members to accompany Wontumi

The Ashanti Regional NPP Communications Director, Paul Yandoh, has urged NPP members to join Chairman Wontumi. They will accompany him to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) today, May 26, 2025.

Chairman Wontumi, also known as Bernard Antwi Boasiako, is expected at the CID today. This follows a failed attempt by the National Investigations Bureau (NIB) and police to arrest him on May 23.

Reports say about 20 heavily armed officers arrived in five vehicles for the raid. After this incident, Chairman Wontumi expressed his concerns on Asempa FM. He said that frozen accounts make it hard to survive.

Wontumi compared his situation to sanctions imposed on Russia by the EU. He stated he had not received any letter from the NIB but would go to police headquarters.

On Wontumi TV, Paul Yandoh called all NPP supporters to Accra. He mentioned they arranged buses from Accra despite local shortages. Yandoh questioned if losing an election means losing citizenship rights.

Meanwhile, Kwame Adom Appiah, Wontumi's lawyer, is ready to cooperate with police. He told Citi News that Wontumi is not someone who hides or runs away.

Appiah emphasized that Wontumi has investments in Ghana and will be available when needed. He stated they have done nothing criminal and are not afraid of meeting with authorities.
