Greater Accra Regional Minister Linda Ocloo announced more demolitions at Ramsar Sites. This follows a large-scale clearance operation at Lashibi.
She assured the public that the government is committed to reclaiming protected lands. The demolitions will continue until all encroachments are cleared.
“It wouldn’t be fair to demolish some and leave others,” Ocloo stated. She mentioned that the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) will oversee further demolitions.
“We are not done. We need to go to Klagon, Weija, and Adenta,” she added.
Ocloo emphasized her hands-on approach during these operations. “I want to ensure the right thing is done,” she explained.
She monitors both the equipment and operators closely for proper execution.
The minister also noted the return of wildlife to the Ramsar site. “They are happy because these are reserve sites for them,” she said.
“They’ve taken back their ownership. You can see them celebrating.”
