We’re ready to declare results, but… – EC on Ablekuma North election

The Electoral Commission (EC) is ready to announce the final results for the Ablekuma North Constituency elections. However, they are waiting for security support from the Ghana Police Service.

Dr. Serebour Quaicoe, the Director of Electoral Services and Training at the EC, spoke on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Senshow. He confirmed that votes have been counted, but collation is still pending.

“We’ve been in touch with the IGP and the police,” he said. “The only issue now is security.”

Dr. Quaicoe urged political parties to prepare for the final outcome.

The declaration has been delayed due to incomplete results from three polling stations out of 281. This has led to disputes between the NDC and NPP, both claiming victory.

Tensions peaked on January 8, 2025, when the Returning Officer resigned amid disagreements over pink sheets.

The EC has suspended the process seven times due to ongoing clashes between party supporters.

Despite no official results, both NDC and NPP have put up billboards thanking voters.
