The National Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Henry Nana Boakye, has rejected claims linking a stabbing incident at KNUST to rivalry between Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and Kennedy Agyapong.
Speaking on The Pulse on JoyNews, Nana Boakye warned against spreading false narratives. He stated, “We will resist any narrative attempting to link the Unity Hall incident to a perceived rivalry.”
He acknowledged that police are investigating the matter. However, he cautioned against making premature political conclusions.
“I reject any narrative connecting this incident to Kennedy Agyapong and Dr. Bawumia,” he emphasized.
Nana Boakye referred to an official statement that clarified there were no internal party tensions involved. He expressed satisfaction with this clarification.
“That is why I reference the statement that cleared the air,” he added.
Regarding Kennedy Agyapong’s withdrawal from the NPP’s Thank You tour, Nana Boakye said he respects his decision. He understands Agyapong's reasons for stepping back.
“I respect Kennedy Agyapong’s decision to withdraw from the Thank You tour,” he noted.
Reports suggest some of Agyapong’s supporters brought Unity Hall students to the event. This may have influenced his choice to withdraw.
“I am told that supporters of Kennedy Agyapong brought these Unity Hall guys in,” he explained.
Despite this, Nana Boakye strongly opposed claims that tensions exist between senior figures during the Thank You tour.
“The narrative that our Thank You tour features unfortunate incidents due to rivalry is not true,” he stated.
