Sulemana Braimah, Executive Director of the Media Foundation for West Africa (MFWA), has criticized Ghana’s leniency in addressing election-related crimes, which he believes undermines the country's democracy.
Speaking on JoyNews’ Newfile, he highlighted the failure to consistently enforce electoral laws as a major issue, citing the unpunished violence in the 2020 Techiman South election.
Braimah emphasized that this lack of accountability encourages further wrongdoing by political actors and electoral officials. He also pointed to the perception of bias among election officials and the disruptive interference of party agents in the election process.
Braimah called for strict adherence to rules by all stakeholders to restore integrity to Ghana’s electoral system.
