“We want Ken Ofori-Atta here physically, and we insist on it” – OSP

Kissi Agyebeng, the Special Prosecutor, has denied Ken Ofori-Atta's request for a virtual session.

Agyebeng stated that Ofori-Atta must appear in person at the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP). He spoke to the media on June 2. Agyebeng said, “This office has always requested his attendance.” He added that they are unwilling to waive this requirement.

“If we were open to taking statements from him remotely, we would have done so in February,” he explained. They did not wait until June 2, 2025, if that were the case.

Agyebeng emphasized their insistence on Ofori-Atta's physical presence. He noted that a suspect cannot dictate how investigations are conducted. “We will not accept this behavior in this case,” he stated.

The Special Prosecutor also mentioned initiating an INTERPOL red notice against Ofori-Atta. This could lead to international arrest and extradition. “About 30 minutes before this brief, I triggered processes for an INTERPOL red notice,” he revealed.

The OSP has accused Ofori-Atta of causing financial loss to the state. This includes issues related to the National Cathedral and contracts with various organizations.

Frank Davies, a member of Ofori-Atta's legal team, expressed frustration over claims of evading justice. He stated that his client is currently receiving medical treatment in the United States.

Davies told GHOne TV, “I get quite irritated over claims Ken is evading justice.” He questioned why people struggle to understand his client's health issues.

On Joy FM’s Super Morning Show, Davies explained further. He used an analogy about unexpected health problems affecting plans. “If I suffer a casualty tonight, would you see me tomorrow?” he asked.

He pointed out that Ken's health challenges were known before these charges arose. “Who didn’t know that Ken was not well?” Mr. Davies queried.
