His Royal Majesty King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, the Ga Mantse, has made a promise. He will provide office space for the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) in his palace. This is part of efforts to enhance collaboration before this year’s Homowo festival.
The offer was made on Tuesday, May 7, 2025. It occurred during a meeting with GTA officials. The meeting was led by the new Chief Executive Officer, Maame Efua Houadjeto.
They discussed ways to strengthen tourism development in Accra. They also explored how to use cultural events like Homowo for national benefits.
“We want to collaborate and see how we can eradicate hunger in Ghana,” said the Ga Mantse. He emphasized using tourism and culture for social change.
King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II shared plans to restore key tourist sites in Greater Accra. These include the lighthouse and the nearby tourism center, which are now neglected.
He mentioned that although the GTA had previously invested in these areas, they have fallen into disrepair since the caretaker's passing.
“Some tourist sites in Greater Accra received funding from GTA,” he noted. “For example, we refurbished the lighthouse and tourism center years ago.”
He added that since their caretaker passed away, these places have not been well maintained. “We plan to go back and rehabilitate them,” he stated.
