We want to make agriculture sexier and more engaging for the youth – Joyce Bawah Mogtari

Joyce Bawah Mogtari, a senior advisor to former President John Dramani Mahama, spoke about agriculture. She believes the sector needs revitalization to attract young people.

In an interview with Woezor TV on April 20, she stressed youth involvement in agriculture. This involvement is key for sustainable livelihoods and national development.

Mogtari emphasized that transforming agriculture is essential. It can change how young people view the sector. "We want to make agriculture sexier and more engaging," she said.

She mentioned that the current government under Mahama aims to empower youth. They should take advantage of opportunities in the agricultural value chain.

Agriculture has great potential for job creation and wealth generation. Modernizing it with the right policies is crucial, according to her.

"We want youth to see agriculture as a rewarding career path," she added. This requires investment in tools, training, and a shift in mindset.

Mogtari also highlighted future plans under a Mahama administration. There will be more focus on youth-led agribusiness initiatives and better access to credit.

She concluded by encouraging young people to embrace this new vision for agriculture. She assured them of Mahama's commitment to prioritizing youth in Ghana’s development.
