The opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) supports traders at Adum Market in Kumasi. These traders want to rebuild their stalls after a devastating fire.
The NPP warned that waiting for government help could cause delays. They believe the traders should take the lead in reconstruction.
After donating GHC 100,000 to the affected traders, NPP General Secretary Justin Frimpong Kodua spoke about their efforts. He praised the traders for being proactive and assured them of NPP's support.
"The market women want to help instead of waiting for government action," he said. "We in the NPP support that cause."
Kodua promised that the party would always care for the welfare of Asanteman residents. He emphasized that even in opposition, they have raised funds to assist.
He also urged the government to provide immediate financial assistance to the traders. He suggested creating a seed fund to aid their rebuilding efforts.
"We are asking the government to set up seed money for market men and women," he stated.
The Adum Market fire caused significant losses for many traders. Many are struggling to resume their businesses after this disaster.
