Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin has spoken out against the government. He claims the opposition will not waver despite politically motivated arrests under the Mahama administration.
"You can arrest all of us, but we will remain resolute," he said. "No amount of intimidation will break our spirit. In 2028, we will defeat you and restore true governance."
Afenyo-Markin made these comments after the debate on the 2025 Budget Statement on March 25. He accused the government of using state institutions to suppress political opponents.
"A government that prioritizes persecution over progress is bound to fail," he asserted. "Ghanaians are watching, and they will decide in 2028."
He urged his fellow opposition members to stay strong and committed to reclaiming power in the next elections.
In another development, lawyer Samuel Atta Akyea criticized the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO). He claimed EOCO prevented him from properly interrogating his clients, Kwabena Adu-Boahene and his wife Angela Boateng.
Adu-Boahene was arrested on March 20. His wife was arrested the next day when she went to check on him at EOCO's offices.
Atta Akyea stated, "A common thief would run away after her husband’s arrest." He added that both have since been incarcerated.
Speaking on Citi Prime News, he revealed that EOCO did not allow him to question his clients before their official interrogation.
"I had access to them yesterday," he explained. "I must respect their right to counsel before EOCO starts working on them."
