We won't take away your shops after reclamation – NADMO assures victims of Adum fire

Ahmed-Rufai Afarahim is the Deputy Director General of NADMO. He assured victims of Friday’s fire in Kumasi that they will keep their shops.

The fire destroyed hundreds of shops, but the reclamation process will not take away ownership. The goal is to clear debris and make the site safe for rebuilding.

His assurance comes after social media rumors suggested shop owners would lose their spaces. At the fire site, Mr. Afarahim stated these claims are unfounded.

He emphasized that no one would lose their shops. He urged shop occupants to ignore the rumors.

NADMO’s main focus is to support affected individuals and aid recovery efforts. Mr. Afarahim praised the Ghana National Fire Service for controlling the fire quickly.

Mr. Kwesi Ofori Agyemang spoke on behalf of the Ashanti Regional Minister. He assured victims that the government will provide support.

The Kumasi fire occurred early Friday morning, causing extensive damage to buildings and goods belonging to about 3,000 traders.
