Weija-Gbawe MP cautions Ghana Water over 'careless' Weija Dam spillage

Jerry Ahmed Shaib, the MP for Weija-Gbawe, has issued a warning. He cautioned Ghana Water Limited (GWL) about the spillage of the Weija Dam. He urged them to handle it carefully to avoid disasters.

During a meeting at the Weija Municipal Assembly, Mr. Shaib stressed proactive management. This is especially important as the rainy season approaches.

He warned that any mishandling could lead to flooding or property damage. Affected residents and local authorities would strongly resist such actions.

“We have seen the devastating impact of previous spillages,” he said. “Any problems from poor management will not be tolerated.”

The Weija Dam often causes concern during heavy rains. Excess water released can flood nearby areas, displacing residents and damaging property.

Mr. Shaib's comments highlight tensions between residents and authorities. There are calls for better communication and disaster preparedness from Ghana Water Limited.
